Creamy Strawberry Oat Milk
Creamy Strawberry Oat Milk
I don’t know why, but I love drinking Oat Milk and incorporating it into my recipes like my Nut Free Vegan Biscuits. If this is your first time to hear about Oat Milk, let me share more about this wonderful dairy alternative.
What Exactly is Oat Milk?
My friend, gone are the days when milk just came from cows, goats and other mammals. Today, more and more types of milk are created from other sources, like plants! Plant-based milk are non-dairy milk, such as coconut milk, soy milk, almond milk, rice milk, hemp milk, and of course, our beloved oat milk.
Pardon me as I get a little pensive at this point. You see, as our world develops, more and more people seem to require some special form of diet. People now want and need options. I pause and ponder as I see how our community has changed so much. We do see innovation happening, but it’s really up to us how we perceive it, whether as a benefit or a disability. Why? Because while we see advances in medicine, different forms of sickness are still prevalent and new ones seem to emerge. It’s a little ironic, don’t you think so?
I guess what I really want to say is this: no matter what happens around us, we strive to give our family good, healthy food no matter what the cost is in time and in dollars. It’s simply worth it!
Anyway, back to our oat milk. Basically, oat milk results from soaking oats in water, blending in the mixture, and straining it. Simple, right? But this recipe is gonna be something different.
You can use any kind of oats, but I used a combination of steel-cut oats and rolled oats.
To add some sweetness to the milk, you may add some sweeteners of your choice. For me, I like to use some organic agave as my sweetener, but it’s totally optional. I also added some vanilla extract into our oat milk, just a couple of teaspoons. Well, you know me, it’s all about the flavor, baby!
Bring in the Joy of Strawberries
Here comes the fun part! Why don’t we add some strawberries into our oat milk? 🙂 I mean, oats are oats, and oat milk is perfectly fine as it is, but can you imagine what happens when we combine all these ingredients with the strawberries? It’s like having the entire Marvel heroes in one movie! Blockbuster guaranteed! Ha-ha!
You see, this Creamy Strawberry Oat Milk was made with freshly picked strawberries, lots of love and 2 different types of oats. I smile as I write this post, recalling the joy my kids & I felt when we were picking the strawberries from a strawberry patch! Ah, that feeling of just enjoying every bite of the juicy strawberries with them. Priceless! It was indeed the best part of making this recipe!
As a parent, I want to make sure that our children are receiving all the wonderful and healthy benefits from incorporating veggies, fruits and whole grains into their diets. With that being said, there are several major reasons why you should try this delicious Creamy Strawberry Oat Milk.
Why You Should Make Creamy Strawberry Oat Milk Today
For one, I bet you didn’t know that according to the website Soymilkquick.com, oat milk contains 10 minerals and 15 vitamins. Just a cup of oat milk contains 36 percent of the recommended daily allowance, or RDA, of calcium.
Oat milk also contains 10 percent of the RDA for vitamin A, which is TWICE as much as cow’s milk. As you may know from my other posts, my son cannot take cow’s milk because of its effect on his skin. So this is another reason why I love using oat milk in my recipes.
If you suffer from anemia and are looking for vegan or healthy alternative options for iron intake, oat milk is something you may want to consider. One serving of oat milk contains 10 percent of the RDA.
Not to mention, strawberries are sweet, juicy and most importantly a super food! This super food is high in folate, high in Vitamin C, antioxidants, and they are a great source of fiber.
