Creamy Smashed Red Beans

Just look at these yummy Creamy Smashed Red Beans! My family eats beans every day, sometimes twice a day. For the most part, beans are one of our main sources of protein. Like anything, it can get a little boring eating the same beans, only cooked 1 or 2 ways everyday. I’m all about variety, creativity and mouth watering flavors. Likewise, that is the reason why my family and I fell in love with these creamy smashed red beans.

Making creamy beans, vegetarian style can be quite challenging, if you fail to add enough……  I will spill the beans in a second. Ha-Ha! Side note: (Let met be honest and say that my husband is the one who actually discovered this trick).

So, what makes traditional beans creamy? The answer is bacon grease. If you love bacon and beans, you could create some jaw dropping smashed beans. But for this recipe, I didn’t use any grease. Instead, I just added the right amount of bean juice or water to make my beans nice and creamy without all the extra fat. Make sure you add enough juice to the beans or your beans will turn out dry, crusty and not very satisfying.

In the meantime, lets get started by making Creamy Smashed Red Beans! 🙂Save
